Comments: Bizarre box-set from New England DIY self-improvement think-tank, where the standard addict interviews have been expanded with relaxation exercises and an intriguing Pendulum Experiment, which may or may not create a zen-like insight in the teenage head on what they could achieve if they set their minds on something. The only sensible way to learn about drugs? Perhaps. In any event, the LSD part covers a whole side of rapping with "Dan", a 14-year old kid who started dropping acid when he was 12 and now tells us what he has learned in the past 18 months. He's reasonably mature for his age, but the blasé attitude and "if you don't know, I can't tell you" veteran head outlook is somewhat surreal. He has an interesting, slightly creepy voice and speaks in a direct manner, both which makes this 20-minute rap a good place to score samples. One side is devoted to the Pendulum Experiment, while the other interviews cover booze, marijuana and marijuana again; no hard stuff this time around.
The box (big enough to hold 3 deep pan pizzas) originally came with a booklet and set of hands-on tools, most of which had flewn out by the time it reached me 36 years later. However, the relation exercise and unique pendulum experiment can be performed using material available in any modern household. The introductory booklet was present in my copy, parts of which can be seen below. The "Pendulum Experiment" is described in some detail, including a stern warning not to mess with the procedure.
